New energy efficiency directive

REVEN® air cleaner now also available in an energy-efficient eco-design!

By adopting the Kyoto Protocol, the European Union has undertaken to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 20 percent until 2020. To achieve this climate goal, the EU adopted the ErP Directive (Energy-related Products Directive).  This new directive helps with studying the savings potential of numerous energy-related products and stipulating minimum requirements. Limits for fans were defined in June 2010 and are valid now.

In the ErP Directive for fans, the Commission defines the minimum efficiency levels**.  To find out whether a fan complies with the ErP Directive, always the efficiency of the complete fan unit comprising the control electronics, the motor and the impeller is to be assessed!

Rentschler REVEN GmbH can now deliver all of its air cleaners with fans and motors that already fulfil the ErP directive! All these air cleaners will be fitted with the green ErP ready sticker shown above. For further technical support please contact our sales team.

erp2** Definition of a fan:  A fan (Latin: ventulus) is an externally driven machine used to create flow within a fluid, typically a gas such as air. A fan consists of a rotating arrangement of vanes or blades which act on the air. Usually, it is contained within some form of housing or case. This may direct the airflow or increase safety by preventing objects from contacting the fan blades. Most fans are powered by electric motors, but other sources of power may be used, including hydraulic motors and internal combustion engines. This is a generally recognised definition of a fan. Therefore, the directive applies to any kind of air cleaner or HVAC air-handling system!

The new energy-efficient ErP version comes with many updates and improvements:

  1. The motor is no longer exposed to the air flow, which ensures a higher lifetime of the motors!
  2. The ErP version comes with a much more compact door design; the maintenance door is smaller than that of previous models. Therefore, it better resists to torsion and is perfectly water and oil proof!
  3. The fan chamber of the ErP version is fully enclosed in a welded housing. It is absolutely tight and no longer requires any kind of gaskets!

These are the crucial benefits and innovations combined with extremely high energy savings!
