Reduce the CO2 footprint of kitchen ventilation hoods with the new RSC-H sensor system

The RSC-H sensor system is used in individual kitchen ventilation hoods and small, compact ventilation ceilings. The system’s sensors surpass even the most sensitive noses of chefs. They precisely determine the optimal amount of exhaust air for the kitchen hood. Conventional commercial kitchen hoods have one, two or a maximum of three exhaust air volume levels, which the cook should regulates according to the amount of heat and vapor generated in the kitchen; this normally just not happens and usually the hoods runs the whole day at full power. However, more efficient ventilation is achieved with an automatic, variable demand controlled system using the sensors of the RSC-H system. The sensors are already integrated in new hoods; these can also be retrofitted into hoods that are already installed. The sensors are cabled with a power supply directly in the kitchen hood and thus all components such as sensors, power supply and an optional frequency converter are all completely integrated in the hood. Thanks to the RSC-H sensor system, the amount of exhaust air from the commercial kitchen hood is adjusted exactly to the cooking activity. This makes it easy to achieve energy savings of 50% compared to a conventional kitchen ventilation system!


The sensors of the RSC-H system are special sensors that have been calibrated for the use in commercial kitchens. Thanks to this special calibration, the RSC-H system delivers a 10 volt output signal at an ambient temperature of 40°C or 1 volt output at 17°C. In a similar way, the sensors are also adapted and calibrated to the relative humidity that is found at the cooking processes in commercial kitchens. The whole RSC-H systems works autark and automatically, no confusing and expensive app or control panel are needed to operate the system!

The scope of delivery of a RSC-H sensor system includes:

– One to a maximum of seven RSC sensors

– A power supply for the RSC sensors

– Wiring and installation of the system in a kitchen hood

– An optional frequency converter to control the exhaust fan

Notes on using the RSC-H system:

– Only the sensor tip of the sensor, which has a cylindrical shape, is visible to the user. This means that a small cylinder with a diameter of 14mm and a height of 17mm made of sintered metal is visible in the hood. Otherwise nothing changes on the hoods!

– A small evaluation box of the sensor signals is attached to the hood roof. The output of this box delivers a 0-10 volt signal depending on temperature and rel. Humidity. This output signal can be used for on-site control of the exhaust air fan and its frequency converter.

– To control these external devices such as fans and frequency converters, the RSC-H outputs an average control signal from one to seven sensors, via a control voltage of 0V to 10V.
